Police Department
The Rehoboth Beach Police Department is a service-oriented organization committed to maintaining the safety of the community and its residents and visitors. Officers enforce laws and local ordinances to ensure that residents and visitors find Rehoboth Beach to be safe, enjoyable, and peaceful. Our 19 full-time officers and company of seasonal police officers work to establish good relationships with local businesses, citizens, and visitors.
Rehoboth Beach officers protect life and property, prevent and investigate crimes, respond to calls for service and traffic crashes, and preserve peace and order by constantly patrolling city streets in marked and unmarked cars, by bicycle, and on foot. Patrol on bicycle and by foot allows officers to interact on a more personal level, increasing cooperation between community members and officers. Police officers on foot or bicycle also are able to safeguard areas that are not accessible by vehicle.
The nationally accredited Rehoboth Beach 911 Center is managed by the police department and responds to all 911 and non-emergency calls for the City of Rehoboth Beach and surrounding area. Our communications specialists serve as a critical link between individuals in need and responding local public safety agencies. Rehoboth’s 911 Call Center is accredited by the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch. To provide important information to emergency responders, consider signing up for Smart911.
