The 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ensures that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.

ADA Transition Plan

Under Title II of the ADA, municipalities that employ 50 or more people must undertake an ADA self-evaluation and create a transition plan to make accommodations for people with disabilities.

The City of Rehoboth Beach has contracted with JMT to begin developing its transition plan. The initial focus will be on how effectively the city’s pedestrian network in public areas complies with ADA requirements. Pedestrian facilities to be assessed, in order to determine any barriers that may impede access for individuals with disabilities, include sidewalks and curb ramps

The city is seeking public comment related to its transition plan through February 28 on Reach Out Rehoboth. Individuals with disabilities, organizations representing individuals with disabilities, and other stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback.
