The City of Rehoboth Beach uses a variety of tools to provide information to residents, visitors, and others. If you want to stay in the know about what’s happening in Rehoboth Beach, consider subscribing or registering for one or more of these services.

Lines in the Sand

The city’s official newsletter is digital. Subscribers receive information about city programs and events in their email inboxes approximately twice a month.

Rehoboth Beacon Alerts

Rehoboth Beacon alerts let subscribers know via text or email when something is not as it should be in the City of Rehoboth Beach. Through Everbridge’s Nixle service, the city sends out time-sensitive alerts, for example, when a road is closed, a water main repair is underway, a summer concert has been canceled due to severe weather, or a life-threatening emergency exists. The city estimates that subscribers will receive, on average, 1-3 alerts each month.

Managing your account

It’s important to note that Rehoboth Beach Beacon subscribers manage their own accounts and alert preferences. For privacy reasons, city staff cannot access, unsubscribe, or make changes to subscriber accounts.

If you change your mind, though, it’s easy to unsubscribe from the Rehoboth Beach Beacon alert system:

  • Unsubscribe from text messages by texting STOP to 888777 and follow the prompts.
  • Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any Rehoboth Beach Beacon email notification.
  • Adjust account settings online.
  • Email support@nixle.com a request to be unsubscribed.

Reach Out Rehoboth

Reach Out Rehoboth is a powerful engagement tool that provides information about major improvement projects being undertaken by the city; it also offers registered stakeholders various opportunities to provide feedback to city staff and elected officials. The city encourages city and area residents, property owners, and business owners, as well as visitors to register at Reach Out Rehoboth and engage with the City of Rehoboth Beach.

Severe Weather Alerts

The City of Rehoboth Beach generally does not provide severe weather alerts via email or text. Mobile phone weather applications may provide alert services. The National Weather Service does not provide email /text alerts to the general public, but does provide a list of commercial resources for various severe weather alert delivery options and a web search that displays National Weather Service watches, warnings, and advisories by location.

A beach conditions icon is used on the homepage of this website during the summer season when lifeguards are on duty to provide information about current conditions at Rehoboth Beach, including when the beach has been closed due to severe weather or strong currents.
