The City of Rehoboth Beach Police Department asks residents to bring them their old, unneeded, or expired – prescription medications, that is. The police department is participating in the DEA’s biennial National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday, April 26. From 10 am-2 pm, area residents may drop off expired and unused prescription medications in the lobby of the police department at 229 Rehoboth Avenue.
The prescription drop-off process is anonymous. Due to safety reasons, sharps and syringes will not be accepted. Vapes and e-cigarettes are accepted only if batteries are removed prior to drop-off.
Last fall, the DEA collected almost 630,000 pounds of prescription drugs across 4,644 collection sites. The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day initiative aims to limit the potential for abuse and misuse of these medications by safely disposing of expired or unused prescription drugs.
