
Scooters
From May 15-September 15, all scooters must have a permit to park on City of Rehoboth streets and in parking lots 24 hours a day, seven days a week – unless paying at a parking meter. Whenever possible, the rear wheel of scooters should be placed against the curb.
A scooter is defined as a vehicle with two wheels and a step-through chassis that is powered by a motor; this definition includes mopeds. Motorcycles, motorized skateboards, motorized wheelchairs, and tripeds are NOT scooters.
Scooter parking permits
- Available only at the Parking Department, located a 1 City Hall Drive, behind 30 Lake Avenue.
- $55 for the season.
- Must be affixed to the front of scooters, preferably on one of the forks.
Scooter parking areas
Scooters may be parked with a valid scooter permit only in areas designated as “Scooter Only.” Parking locations include:
- the end of most beach blocks
- designated spots on Baltimore and Wilmington avenues
- the lot designated as Martin’s Lawn near the senior center on Christian Street
- non-metered street parking spaces
- at parking meters – the meter fee must be paid with or without a scooter permit.
Buses
Parking permits for buses are required year-round
Two spaces are available for buses on a first-come, first-served basis in the City Hall east parking lot. From May 15-September 15, a fee applies for bus parking:
- midnight-8 am – $100
- 8 am-midnight – $250
All bus drivers/companies must contact the parking department at 302-227-6184 or via email to check availability year-round. Bus parking spaces are not available during major special events such as the Polar Plunge in February, Independence Day fireworks display, Sea Witch Festival in October, and Christmas Parade. Bus operators may contact Dart Park and Ride via email or at 302-260-7239 for off-site parking information. Completed bus parking permit applications may be scanned and emailed to the parking department.
Loading & unloading buses
Loading and unloading of buses is permitted only in the City Hall bus parking lot at 229 Rehoboth Avenue – it is not permitted at the bandstand nor anywhere else in town. To reach the loading/unloading zone and bus parking spaces (if available), follow convention center signs along Lake Avenue, turn right onto 3rd Street. Immediately to the left upon entering the parking lot are two bus parking spaces to be used for a maximum of 15 minutes at a time for pickup and drop-off. Buses parked on the street or left running in the City Hall parking lot will be fined.
Oversized vehicles
Parking vehicles longer than 22’3” is restricted in the City of Rehoboth Beach. Visitors with oversized vehicles are encouraged to utilize DART’s Park and Ride lots and services to enter the city.
