Designed for children between the ages of 6 and 15, the Rehoboth Beach Patrol’s Junior Lifeguard program is designed to increase the self-confidence, physical conditioning, and ocean awareness of participants. The program engages both participants’ bodies and minds. Physical activities such as running, swimming, sit-ups, and pushups are interspersed with learning beach rules and guarding skills.
During the 2025 season, the Junior Lifeguard program runs from 8-9 am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from June 20 into August 1. The program is staffed by Rehoboth Beach Patrol lifeguards who have a comprehensive understanding of the beach environment and possess exceptional communication skills.
The 2025 program will run June 16-August 1, culminating in a Junior Guards Olympics and an end-of-year party. The registration deadline is June 1. Junior Lifeguard Application.
The program fee is $100 for the first child registered, and then $55 for each additional child from the same family.
Based on the child’s age at the end of May 2025, junior guards will be divided into four groups: Group A (ages 14-15), Group B (12-13), Group C (9-11), and Group D (6-8). Group A junior guards will take swimming proficiency test the first day.
