Each year the Rehoboth Beach Patrol votes as Lifeguard of the Year someone who has performed in a manner that is above and beyond the normal call of duty. Below is a list of every Lifeguard of the Year recipient since 1975.

Rookie of the Year
All first-year lifeguards must pass the traditional Rookie Test to officially become a member of the Rehoboth Beach Patrol. The Rookie Test is currently a a two-day, 10-event competition. The first-year lifeguard with the best overall score on the Rookie Test is declared the patrol’s Rookie of the Year. Below is a list of all Rookie of the Year winners since 1975.
